The Lebanese pound (LBP) is the national currency, but since the financial crisis most prices are set and paid in US dollars in cash, so dollar–pound exchange happens daily. Beirut has the most offers, followed by Tripoli, Sidon, Zahlé and Jounieh.
Licensed exchange shops operate in city centres, and cash is king because bank transfers are limited. In Lebanon, P2P offers are a way to swap Lebanese pounds and US dollars directly with another person.
