The Pakistani rupee (PKR) is the national currency; US dollars, Saudi riyals, UAE dirhams and British pounds are in high demand thanks to remittances from workers abroad, and Afghan afghanis are traded near the western border. Karachi and Lahore have the most offers, followed by Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Peshawar.
Foreign currency is exchanged at banks and licensed exchange companies, many of which also handle remittances. In Pakistan, listings let you exchange US dollars for Pakistani rupees directly with another person, in cash or by transfer.
