Antigua and Barbuda uses the East Caribbean dollar (XCD), pegged to the US dollar at 2.70; US dollars are accepted almost everywhere, so visitors mainly exchange euros, British pounds and Canadian dollars. St. John’s, the capital and cruise port, has the most banks and exchange services, with more around English Harbour and in Codrington on Barbuda.
Shops often give change in East Caribbean dollars even when you pay in US dollars. In Antigua and Barbuda, listings let you exchange US dollars for East Caribbean dollars directly with another person, in cash or by transfer.
