The Tajikistani somoni (TJS) is the national currency. Besides dollars and euros, Russian rubles are exchanged often, as many families receive transfers from relatives working in Russia; Kazakhstani tenge and Uzbekistani soms are traded as well. Dushanbe and Khujand have the most offers, with more in Kulob, Bokhtar and Istaravshan.
Currency is exchanged at banks and their exchange offices in city centres and near markets. In Tajikistan, listings let you exchange US dollars for Tajikistani somoni directly with another person, in cash or by transfer.
